My Goal

This will not be a long entry. I am here to speak about what my intentions are with this blog.

If you turn on your television and watch the news, you might have noticed that the political tone in this country is toxic. This new tone of debate is one, not where folks sit down and work out the issues of the day, but where facts virtually play no role at all. Shouting has replaced civility and violence has replaced problem-solving.

My goal with this blog is to discuss current political issues while being mindful of reality. I don't want to use this space like the Rush Limbaugh's and Glenn Beck's of this world would use it for: to hate on anything and anyone with which they disagree. I want to instead use it as a place where my view will be expressed (yes, my views may be left-leaning), but also where the views of others can be expressed as well.

Welcome to the blog and no matter who you are, you are free to join in the discussion. Yes, even Tea Partiers are welcome. I just ask that you leave your firearms at the door.

  1. I would have to say that left-leaning is a bit understated.

We do have a polarized country, but why is that? People are tired of not being represented by their senators and congressmen, hence the tea-party.

You call Limbaugh and Beck hate mongers. Their not. They are simply reporting the other side that you do not agree with.

Let's face it Sean, you have chosen to side with those that are liberal and socialist. Why is that so difficult for you to admit? Do you consider that a slanderous remark? We are just calling it as we see it. At least the school teacher in California had the courage to say, Yes I am a socialist.

That is where I don't understand. I am a conservative when it comes to Policy, I do not consider that a negative label. Why do liberals have a hard time with that? Please advise.

  2. I have no problem calling myself liberal leaning. But I do have a problem when people get caught up in labels. Whether it's conservative or liberal, we're Americans first and I'll never believe that one label can ever sum up the beliefs of a single person or group of people.

The more you label main stream Democrats as socialists, the less I believe you understand about Socialism. Like I said in another comment I posted: I am not so much an advocate for a political party as much as I am for the concept of being reasonable and using logic.

And while I'm on the subject of being reasonable, I think calling Limbaugh and Beck reporters is laughable. Let's get real here.

  3. And you call Olberman a reporter? You have used referances like Jon Stewart. Talk about getting real Sean. Let's face it you are socialist. Giving to people who do not deserve it, who do not work for it, but are ashamed to admit it. C'mon Sean, you say you stand up for what you believe in, call yourself what you believe in Socialism. If that is what you believe why are you so hesitant to say it. Be courageous. I stand for what I believe, conservative Christian beliefs.

  4. Keith Olbermann is not a reporter. I neither called him that nor did I imply he was. He is a commentator.

I understand you're angry that I don't agree with you on this. I know it must be frustrating for you. But I find it unsettling that you use that anger to call me something I'm clearly not. Again, just because you disagree with me on a few political issues, out of anger you resort to false labeling. That's what is wrong with our politics. And that's what needs to be changed.

I won't let you get away with calling me a Socialist. It's just not true and it's just not respectful. I know you live in a state with a bunch of radical leaders who shout out at Presidential addresses and go on trips to Argentina with mistresses and fan the flames of this radical, fringe group known as the Tea Party and they probably encourage you to go up to other people and start calling them what you wish just because they don't agree with you. But that's not me.

If Obama were a Socialist, I would not vote for him in 2012 nor would I have volunteered for him in 2008. If I were a Socialist I would have the courage to come out and say it. I'm an American that loves my country as much as or more than you do. I just understand that I can love my country and hold certain views on certain issues and not resort to such shameful tactics in order to belittle someone I disagree with.

So I think we should cool with it the Socialism line. It's worn out and it proves the lack of knowledge that exists on the right when it comes to Socialism.
